Holdings:

Christian Aid's archives date back to 1946, originally it became known as the Inter-Church Aid and Refugee Service, later it adopted the name Christian Aid in 1964.

The archives include correspondence, minutes and reports concerning aid projects in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean; papers of the Directorate including constitutional material, committee minutes of the British Council of Churches, and Christian Aid Board papers; organisational material including correspondence with other fund-raising bodies such as Oxfam, the Red Cross, and a selection of Christian Aid publicity material including Annual Reports.

The main archives are held at the School of Oriental and African Studies Library (SOAS) in London:

Getting there:
The nearest tube is Russell Square (2 minutes walk) or from Euston Station its about 10 minutes walk via Euston Square.

Term time: Monday - Thursday 9am - 7pm. Friday 9am – 5pm

Summer Vacation: Monday - Friday 9am – 5pm

Food & Drink:
Student union has two shops both do good sandwiches and cheap, or in Russell Square Park there is a café that does a range of baguettes, cakes, tea, coffee etc and not too expensive.

Photocopying:
Photocopying is not encouraged, staff will do limited photocopying for you for about 15p per sheet. The better option is probably to use a digital camera – there is no charge but you do need to fill in a copyright form for each item. Laptops are also allowed and there are power points.

Additional:
To access the SOAS library you will need a swipe card – this can be issued on the day, but you will need to show a valid student card and possibly a letter of introduction.
